March 10--A man stepped outside for his morning smoke and found another man dead with a gunshot wound on a sidewalk in the West Garfield Park neighborhood early Thursday.
Officers found the man in the 4600 block of West Monroe Street on the West Side around 4:50 a.m., according to police.
The man, whose age was not immediately available, suffered at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police said they were conducting a homicide investigation. No one is in custody and Area North detectives are investigating.
