BRIEF: Man found dead in Brighton Park trash can was beaten, then set on fire

June 16--A man who was found in a garbage can in the Brighton Park neighborhood over the weekend had been beaten to death before being set on fire, officials said Tuesday.

Chicago firefighters responded shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday to an alley on the 4200 block of Kedzie Avenue in the Brighton Park neighborhood, said officials.

When the fire was out, officials discovered the body of a man. He was later identified as Arthur Wyatt, 55, of the 4500 block of South Michigan Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Wyatt was found about eight miles from his Bronzeville neighborhood home.

An autopsy showed he died of blunt force trauma to the head from an assault, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.
