Jan. 09--Authorities believe the attempted kidnapping of a 3-year-old girl who was snatched from a bedroom window in Newhall on Thursday night was random.
The girl's family did not know the man, identified as Ethan Odom, 37, of Saugus, said Deputy Joshua Dubin of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Odom was arrested Thursday night after deputies say he tried to take off with the girl, who was not physically harmed during the incident in the 24200 block of Arch Street.
The suspect reached into a bedroom and grabbed the girl, Dubin said, but as he ran away with her, family members chased him and were able to pull the girl away from him.
Moments later, deputies arrived, set up a perimeter and chased the suspect down.
