BRIEF: Man crashes into CTA bus, 5 cars during police chase

Dec. 10--A man was arrested after he crashed into a CTA bus and five parked cars while fleeing police in the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

About 10 p.m. Tuesday, officers saw a 2003 Ford minivan run a stop sign and tried to curb it in the 4700 block of South Wolcott Avenue, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago police spokesman.

The minivan's driver fled, prompting a police chase. About a mile away, the van struck a CTA bus and five cars in the 4700 block of South Talman Avenue, police said.

The van's driver, 36, was taken into custody and officers learned the minivan had been stolen. The bus driver was taken to Holy Cross Hospital. His condition was stabilized, police said.

Charges against the van driver are pending, police said.
