BRIEF: Gary man shot to death at his home

Jan. 25--A Gary man was shot to death Saturday evening at his home, authorities said.

Edwin Deloney, 63, was found with multiple gunshot wounds around 7:50 p.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of Tennessee Street in Gary, according to a statement from Lake County, Indiana, coroner's office.

He was pronounced dead at 7:55 p.m., and his death was ruled a homicide, the coroner's office said.

Police received a call of "shots fired" about 7:30 p.m., at 15th Avenue and Tennessee Street, said Gary police Sgt. Tom Decanter Jr. in a release, according to the Post-Tribune of northwest Indiana. When police arrived, they found Edwin Deloney dead at his home.

Anyone with information is asked to call Gary Police Detective Jeff Minchuk of the Violent Crime Unit at (219) 881-1210.

An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated Deloney was found dead Friday.
