BRIEF: Man faces charges after being accused of shooting, injuring another man

March 30--A man has been charged in the August shooting of a man on the South Side.

Tykari R. Blackmon, 34, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Blackmon critically wounded a 31-year-old man after shooting him Aug. 22 near the Back of the Yards and Englewood neighborhoods, police said at the time.

That shooting happened about 4:40 p.m. in the 5300 block of South Laflin Street, police said.

The man, 31, who was approached by a gunman on foot, was wounded in the upper body, police said at the time. In a statement Monday, police said the man had gunshot wounds to his left thigh.

The victim was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, police said at the time.

A Cook County judge Sunday ordered Blackmon held in lieu of $900,000 bail.

Blackmon's next scheduled court date is April 3.
