June 01--A West Englewood man has died of wounds suffered in a February shooting across the street from his home, authorities said Sunday.
Kristopher Claybon, 33, was pronounced dead at 8:21 a.m. Saturday at home in the 5700 block of South Hermitage Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Claybon was shot Feb. 16 across the street from his home. He died of blood clots that formed because of immobility from his gunshot wounds and sepsis that developed from the gunshot wounds, the medical examiner's office determined Sunday after an autopsy.
Claybon was sitting in a parked vehicle with another man about 4:45 p.m. Feb. 16 when a car drove up and someone began shooting, police said at the time.
Claybon suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was critically wounded. He was taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment. The other man, 37 at the time, was shot in the right shoulder and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for treatment.
Police and court records show no one has been charged in connection with the shooting.
