BRIEF: Man dies day after Albany Park shooting

Dec. 21--A man shot in the head in the Albany Park neighborhood died a day later, according to information released Saturday.

About 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, a 21-year-old man was shot while sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle in the 4700 block of North Lawndale Avenue when two males, both wearing hooded sweatshirts, approached on foot and opened fire, police said.

The victim, identified as Omar Flores, 31, of the 4700 block of North Avers Avenue, was pronounced dead at 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to information released Saturday by the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Flores died of the gunshot wound to the head, the medical examiner's office determined after an autopsy Saturday.

No one was in custody in connection with the homicide as of Saturday.
