BRIEF: Man electrocuted on Blue Line tracks

June 23--A man died early Tuesday after he was electrocuted on the Blue Line tracks on the city's West Side.

Emergency crews were called to the Kedzie-Homan Blue Line station, 530 S. Kedzie Ave., about 4:45 a.m. Tuesday on a report of a man on the tracks, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.

The man, who the Cook County medical examiner's office said is 33 years old, had been electrocuted by the third rail, Gaines said, citing preliminary information. Police said witnesses said the man was riding a bicycle on the tracks at the time.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Gaines said. CTA officials said some Blue Line trains were operating with residual delays early Tuesday after the incident.
