BRIEF: Man dies after car leaves road near Plainfield, crashes into pickup

Feb. 29--A man died after his car drove off a highway near Plainfield and crashed into a parked pickup truck early Monday, police said.

Harold Fite, 45, of Plainfield, died after the 4:40 a.m. crash about a half-mile east of where West Lockport Road--Illinois Hwy. 126--meets County Line Road in Will County west of Plainfield, according to a news release from Illinois State Police.

Fite was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala when his car went off the road and hit a Ford F150 that was parked in the 26000 block of Route 126, according to the release.

Fite was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators were not sure why Fite's car left the road, but there were no indications the crash involved alcohol, a State Police spokeswoman said.
