BRIEF: Man dies after being struck by CTA Blue Line train, service suspended

Dec. 02--The CTA's Blue line service between Oak Park and Cicero has been suspended after a 24-year-old man was fatally struck by a train in Oak Park, officials said.

Officials said the incident happened at 8:15 p.m. On the CTA's website, officials said the temporary suspension was due to a medical emergency on the tracks at Austin.

According to the Cook County medical examiner's office, the 24-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by the train. The man's name was not available, pending notification of his family.

Trains are operating only between O'Hare and Cicero through downtown, officials said.

A shuttle train is in service between Forest Park and Oak Park on the O'Hare-bound platform.

Bus shuttle service is available to provide connecting service between Cicero and Oak Park, officials said.
