BRIEF: Man dies 2 weeks after South Side shooting

March 21--A Gresham man has died two weeks after he was shot in his car as he arrived home, authorities said Monday.

Marteace Tiffith, 42, of the 8800 block of South Wood Street, was pronounced dead at 1:35 p.m. Sunday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Tiffith died from complications from multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner's office determined Monday following an autopsy.

Tiffith told police he had just pulled up in the 8800 block of South Wood about 6:40 p.m. March 8 when someone in a black SUV pulled up and fired shots at him, according to Officer Kevin Quaid, a police spokesman.

He was hit in the head, arm and shoulder and taken to Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said at the time.

Police and court records show no one is in custody.

Tiffith's killing is at least the sixth shooting and second homicide on his block since Dec. 31, 2014, according to city crime data and crime data compiled by the Tribune.
