BRIEF: Man dies 2 months after Back of the Yards shooting

May 19--A Back of the Yards man has died almost two months after he was shot early on a Sunday morning in March, less than a block from his home, authorities said Wednesday.

Eric O'Reilly, 27, was pronounced dead at 5:05 p.m. Monday at Stroger Hospital after being shot March 20, officials said. O'Reilly, of the 4800 block of South Laflin Street, died from complications from suffering multiple gunshot wounds in the attack, the Cook County medical examiner's office determined after an autopsy Wednesday.

O'Reilly was walking on the sidewalk in the 4900 block of South Laflin Street about 5 a.m. March 20 when an unknown attacker fired shots at him. O'Reilly was struck in the chest, and he was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition, police said at the time.

No one had been arrested in connection with the attack as of Wednesday afternoon, police said.
