BRIEF: Man critically wounded in South Shore drive-by shooting

Aug. 28--A 29-year-old man was critically wounded Friday morning in a drive-by shooting on the South Side in the city's South Shore neighborhood.

The shooting happened shortly before 10:30 a.m. on the 6900 block of South Crandon Avenue, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

Preliminary reports said the man was standing on the street when a gray or white vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, Sedevic said.

The man suffered wounds to his face and legs, and was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

No one was in custody and police were investigating.
