BRIEF: Man critically injured after girlfriend's ex runs him over with car

Feb. 23--A man was in critical condition after his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend ran him over with his car Sunday evening on the Northwest Side.

A 47-year-old woman and her boyfriend, 53, were inside a bar in the 5000 block of West Diversey Avenue when they were confronted by her ex-boyfriend, 41, around 7:30 p.m., according to police.

The three got into a physical altercation. The ex then walked outside, got into his car and appeared to have run over the woman's boyfriend on purpose while he was standing on the crosswalk, police said. The man apparently tried to hit the woman with his car as well but missed her, according to police.

The woman's boyfriend suffered critical head and internal injuries and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to police.

Police are still investigating the incident, and no one is in custody.
