Nov. 23--An 18-year-old man was in critical condition after being wounded in a shooting early Sunday morning in the Little Village neighborhood on the West Side, police said.

Police responded to the 2500 block of South Francisco Avenue after getting several calls about a battery in progress and gunshots being fired in the area around 5:30 a.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.

The man was found unresponsive, lying on the ground, Estrada said.

He suffered gunshot wounds to both legs and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

No other details about the shooting were immediately available.
