BRIEF: Man critically hurt in Coal City shooting

April 02--A man was in critical condition after being shot at a gas station Wednesday evening in far southwest suburban Coal City Wednesday evening.

Coal City police officers responded to reports of shots being fired around 8:10 p.m. at a Shell gas station, at 725 E. Division St., according to a statement from the Coal City Police Department.

A man, whose age was not available, was discovered inside a silver Dodge Ram with gunshot wounds to his body. He was taken to Morris Hospital for treatment and then air lifted to Loyola University Hospital, according to the statement.

The man is listed in critical condition, the statement said.

Preliminary investigation showed that the victim had a dispute with a male suspect south of the gas station. The suspect fled the scene after the shooting, according to the statement.

Police said the shooting was an isolated incident, and the incident is still being investigated.
