BRIEF: Man convicted of '06 sexual assault gets 20 years in prison

Aug. 21--A Chicago man has been sentenced to 20 years after being convicted of sexually assaulting a woman in 2006, prosecutors said Thursday.

Valen Little, 49, was convicted of forcing a woman into a vehicle, driving her to a secluded area and sexually assaulting her at gunpoint, according to prosecutors.

The attack happened April 26, 2006, as the 32-year-old victim was walking home from work as a manager at a local fast-food restaurant.

According to prosecutors, Little was driving a car when he spotted the woman on the 3700 block of West Ogden Avenue and he stopped the car.

He indicated to the woman that he had a gun and forced her into his car.

Little then drove to a secluded area, where he threatened to shoot the woman and then sexually assaulted her, prosecutors said. After the attack, Little released the woman and she was able to run to a nearby business, where employees called police.

Little was charged in 2014 after he was arrested for an unrelated crime and his DNA profile was matched evidence collected in a sexual assault kit that was taken after the assault.

Judge Domenica Stephenson sentenced Little to 20 years in state prison.
