April 18--A 28-year-old man was charged with a felony after running onto the field after a Chicago Fire game on Saturday, according to authorities.
Anthony Lopez, of the Heart of Chicago neighborhood, was charged with criminal trespass of a place of public amusement, authorities said.
Prosecutors said in court that Lopez and a boy ran onto the Toyota Park field at some point while the Fire was playing the Montreal Impact. Lopez made contact with a player, but no one was was injured, prosecutors said.
It was not clear why Lopez and the boy ran onto the field. Several signs note fans are prohibited from entering that area, prosecutors said.
Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil set bail at $10,000 for Lopez and sent him away with a warning.
"Don't run out," Ciesil said. "It's a good thing they didn't crush you or anything."
Lopez must stay away from Toyota Park while his case is pending, according to court files. His next court date is April 19 in Bridgeview. He faces up to a $1,000 fine and up to 120 hours of community service of convicted.
The Fire lost Saturday's game 2-1.
