BRIEF: Man charged with struggling with off-duty Chicago police officers; breaking into car

May 25--A Northwest Side man has been charged with burglary and battery to a peace officer after breaking into a car and fighting with the off-duty officers who detained him Monday, police said.

The officers had spotted Jovany Flores, 32, near the 2300 block of West Wolfram Street trying to open car doors on the street, police said. At 11:30 p.m., they found him on that block in a car that they determined did not belong to him.

They identified themselves as police officers and Flores became "irritated and upset," police said. He began to struggle and the officers suffered minor injuries.

Flores, of the 4400 block of West Diversey Avenue, was expected to appear in court Wednesday.
