BRIEF: Man charged with robbing woman in wheelchair of $28

July 13--A Chicago man was charged with taking $28 from a woman in a wheelchair on the West Side.

Tyrone Howard, 54, was arrested Saturday afternoon about two blocks away, near Western Avenue and Iowa Street after robbing a 62-year-old woman, according to Chicago police records. The robbery was caught on surveillance video from a camera at an ATM on Chicago Avenue, just east of Western, records said.

He allegedly choked her and demanded money, and she handed over $28 and change, according to records.

The woman was in a wheelchair "without any possible way to defend herself," according to records.

Howard was charged with robbery, and Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. set bail at $350,000.

He was scheduled to be back in court Friday.
