BRIEF: Teen charged with DUI in crash that killed passenger in his car

Jan. 21--A Northwest Side man has been charged with DUI in a Norwood Park crash that killed a passenger in his car, according to Chicago police.

Mishel Lame, 19, was driving a BMW coupe around 7:30 p.m. Monday when he rear-ended another car in the 5100 block of North Nagle Avenue, police said in a statement. The car was pushed into other cars, and the BMW also hit a tree, police said.

A passenger in the BMW, Marion Mario Tahiraj, 20, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and pronounced dead.

Lame was taken to the same hospital with injuries police described as not life-threatening. The driver of the other car was taken to Masonic, and his condition was stabilized.

Lame, of the 6400 block of West Warner Avenue, was charged with one felony count of aggravated DUI and one misdemeanor count of DUI. He also was cited for traffic violations.

A bond hearing was scheduled for Thursday, police said.
