BRIEF: Man charged with assault after pointing gun at officers: Police

Aug. 17--A man was charged with assaulting peace officers after pointing a gun at police early Sunday morning, according to a news release from the Chicago Police Department.

Officers responding to a burglary call in the 1900 block of South Trumbull Avenue at 4:17 a.m. Sunday found Bernal Eubanks, 39, who matched the description they were given of the burglar, police said.

Eubanks refused to follow orders and then pulled a gun on the officers, police said. The officers got the gun away from him and took him into custody.

Eubanks, of the 3300 block of West Congress Parkway, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault to a peace officer, one count of trespassing and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. He is expected to appear in court Monday.
