BRIEF: Man charged in March shooting on Southeast Side

April 05--A 22-year old man shot at a man last month in the Calumet Heights neighborhood, prosecutors said Saturday.

Raheem Brooks shot the 24-year-old twice in the abdomen, once in the groin and once in the buttocks, according to court records.

The shooting took place in the 9300 block of South Marquette Avenue on March 27, records show.

The man was shot about 3:45 a.m. while standing outside, police said at the time.

Brooks, of the 7300 block of South Marshfield Avenue, was charged with aggravated battery discharge of a firearm and ordered held in lieu of $750,000 bail at a hearing Saturday.

He was arrested Friday morning after police officers saw him sitting on the porch of an abandoned property in the 2000 block of West 69th Place, according to court records. A name check by police found an alert saying there was probable cause to arrest him on a charge of aggravated battery with a handgun, police said.
