BRIEF: Man charged in downtown convenience store robberies

Oct. 30--An Englewood man has been charged in two downtown convenience store robberies this month, authorities said.

Tydeon Woodland, 21, has been charged with two felony counts of armed robbery, according to a Chicago police statement.

Police said Woodland robbed a convenience store in the 500 block of West Lake Street about 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 17 and robbed another store in the 100 block of South Clark Street about 4:15 a.m. on Oct. 23.

Woodland was armed with a knife when he demanded cash from store clerks in both robberies, police said. The 21-year-old was arrested after he was recognized from a CTA lookout bulletin Oct. 28 and subsequently identified in police lineups, according to authorities.

Woodland, of the 7100 block of South Harvard Avenue, is due in bond court Thursday afternoon.
