BRIEF: Man barricaded in West Side building after shots fired call

March 04--A man barricaded himself inside a West Side building after police in the area responded to a shots fired call, according to authorities.

SWAT was called because officers saw the man on video shooting outside the building and saw him entering, but not exiting, a grocery in the building.

No one was injured from the shots fired, which happened about 5:35 p.m., police said.

Police blocked of Laramie Avenye from Congress to Van Buren. At least eight police cars and SUVs are on the scene along with a squadule and an armored vehicle.

An officer in tactical gear could be standing outside the front of a convenience store in the 400 block of South Laramie.

A spokeswoman for Chicago police didn't immediately have information on the circumstances of the police situation.

A nearby resident, who didn't want to be named, said she heard four or five gunshots about 5 p.m.

"You hear gunshots over hear all the time," she said, "so I didn't think nothing of it."
