BRIEF: Man arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in deadly Santa Ana crash

Oct. 27--Santa Ana police are investigating whether a drunken driver ran a red light and triggered a three-car crash Saturday night that killed one person and injured seven others.

Herbert Calderon Granados, 23, who was injured in the crash along with four passengers in his car, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

According to authorities, Calderon also is suspected of driving on a suspended license for a previous drunk driving conviction.

Police said the crash occurred about 9:20 p.m. when a Lexus driven by Granados ran a red light and broadsided a Honda at Bristol Street and Central Avenue. The impact sent the Honda careening into a pickup truck.

An 18-year-old passenger in the Honda, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The car's driver and two other passengers were injured and had to be extricated from the wreckage.

All of the injured were taken to hospitals.
