Man arrested in Tijuana after two women are found dead in Hemet home

Sept. 17--A man wanted in connection with the deaths of two women in Hemet was arrested Wednesday in Tijuana, hours after police announced they were looking for him.

Tijuana police detained Elisha Samson Chiles about 4:30 p.m. and turned him over to authorities at the U.S. border, Hemet police said Thursday. He was booked for investigation of murder and was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

"I am very pleased and impressed that our investigators were able to track down the suspect responsible for this terrible crime in less than 12 hours across an international border," Police Chief David Brown said.

Earlier Wednesday, Hemet police said they were looking for Chiles after he was identified as the person of interest in the deaths of two women. The women have not been identified.

The women's bodies were found about 4:51 a.m. inside a home in the 1200 block of South Buena Vista Street as officers were conducting a welfare check, police said.

Details about how the women were killed were not released.
