BRIEF: Man accused of carjacking his elderly relative with a knife

Nov. 11--A South Side man has been charged with carjacking a 75-year-old relative and attacking her with a knife during a domestic-related incident in the city's Avalon Park neighborhood.

Jerome McIntosh, 31, was charged Tuesday with aggravated battery of a person over 60 years of age, aggravated vehicular hijacking of a handicapped person and armed robbery with a dangerous weapon, police said.

The charges stem from a Nov. 8 domestic-related altercation on the 8000 block of South Kenwood Avenue. About 3 a.m. that day, McIntosh attacked his 75-year-old relative with a knife and stole her car, police said

The woman was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a laceration to her hand and was listed in stable condition, police said.

McIntosh was scheduled to appear Tuesday afternoon at Central Bond Court.
