BRIEF: Man, 93, dies in Ashburn blaze

May 13--A 93-year-old man died following a fire Tuesday afternoon on the South Side, according to fire officials.

The blaze erupted about 4:30 p.m. in the 3300 block of West 83rd Place, said Will Knight, a spokesman for the Chicago Fire Department.

The 93-year-old was injured in the fire and taken in critical condition to Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers in Evergreen Park, Knight said. No other injuries were reported.

The man, identified as Walter Haton, was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

No other information was immediately available.
