BRIEF: Man, 76, dies after being struck by hit-and-run vehicle on NW Side

Dec. 08--A 76-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident about a block from his Jefferson Park neighborhood home last week has died, officials said Monday.

Carroll Brown, of the 4900 block of North Central Avenue, was pronounced dead at 2 a.m. Monday at Lutheran General Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

According to an autopsy conducted Monday, Brown died of multiple blunt force injuries from a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian, according to the office. The death was ruled an accident.

Brown was struck by a vehicle at 8:25 p.m. Friday on the 4800 block of North Central Avenue, officials said. The vehicle then fled, police said.

No one is in custody as police continue to investigate, according to a police spokeswoman.
