BRIEF: Man, 61, shot in August dies

Nov. 08--A 61-year-old man who was shot in August on the South Side has died, authorities said.

An autopsy Saturday determined James Watson, of the 7300 block of South Union Avenue, died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Watson, who was shot Aug. 2 in the 700 block of East 83rd Street, was pronounced dead at 2:03 p.m. Wednesday at RML Specialty Hospital, according to the medical examiner's office.

Watson was one of three people wounded about 1:50 a.m. Aug. 2 in the Chatham neighborhood attack. Two others, ages 32 and 39, were shot in the back and were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition, police said at the time.
