BRIEF: Man, 52, stabbed at Skokie bar

March 28--A 52-year-old man is in serious condition after he was stabbed at a Skokie bar Friday night, police said.

About 10:10 p.m. Friday, Skokie police responded to the Skokie House, 7887 Lincoln Avenue in the northern suburb, for calls of two men fighting, according a police statement.

When officers arrived at the bar, they found a 52-year-old man with "several stab wounds," police said. The man was taken to Presence St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was listed in serious condition.

Early Saturday, police said a suspect was in custody in connection with the stabbing. Skokie police and investigators from the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the stabbing, police said.

Greg Skelton was at the bar Saturday morning. A four-year Skokie resident, he said the stabbing was an unusual incident at Skokie House and that he knew the victim.

"He could rub people the wrong way and be obnoxious, but he didn't deserve something like this," said Skelton, nodding to blood splatters on an asphalt lot a few feet away. "Occasionally, things happen here, but it's taken outside."
