BRIEF: Man, 25, killed in motorcycle crash on South Side

June 23--A suburban man died over the weekend after he crashed his motorcycle on the city's South Side, officials said.

Egidijus Salcius, 25, of suburban Westmont, was pronounced dead Saturday at Stroger Hospital after a traffic crash, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Police said Salcius was driving his 2008 Yamaha motorcycle at a high rate of speed north in the 2700 block of South Ashland Avenue about 4:50 p.m. Saturday when he crashed into an a 2001 Pontiac Aztek SUV.

A 25-year-old woman was also driving north on Ashland Avenue when she began making a left turn and Salcius crashed into the back of the SUV, police said.

The woman was cited for a failure to produce a driver's license and failure to produce insurance but was not faulted in Salcius' death, police said.
