BRIEF: Man, 23, wounded in Englewood shooting

Dec. 07--A 23-year-old man was wounded Sunday afternoon in a shooting on the city's South Side in the Englewood neighborhood.

The shooting happened about 12:45 p.m. on the 5600 block of South Halsted Street, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala, citing preliminary information.

A man suffered a wound to his leg and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital where his condition was stabilized, said police.

No details were available about the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Police were investigating.
