BRIEF: Man, 23, stabbed by roommate on Northwest Side, police say

June 08--A man is in critical condition after he was stabbed by his roommate during an argument Sunday night in the Hermosa neighborhood on the city's Northwest Side, authorities said.

About 11:50 p.m., the 23-year-old man was in a "domestic-related" argument inside an apartment in the 4000 block of West Palmer Street when he was stabbed in the abdomen with a kitchen knife by his roommate, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

The 23-year-old man then fled the apartment and was spotted by 25th District officers stumbling down the street holding his stomach, police said.

He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition Monday morning.

Police said the roommate, a 35-year-old man, was in custody in connection with the stabbing but said no criminal charges had been filed as of early Monday. Details surrounding the argument were not immediately available.
