April 10--A 22-year-old man was fatally shot just two blocks from his home in Gary, officials said.
Johnnie Dixon III, of the 2000 block of Carolina Street, was pronounced dead just after 2 a.m. Friday, according to the Lake County coroner's office.
Officials were called to the 2200 block of South Carolina Street early Friday morning where Dixon had been shot repeatedly, according to a statement from the coroner's office.
Authorities ruled Dixon's death a homicide. No other details were immediately available.
The Gary Police Department and the Lake County Sheriff's Department are investigating.
