BRIEF: Man, 22, killed after he was struck on I-55

March 07--A 22-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning after he walked into traffic on the Stevenson Expressway in suburban Bolingbrook.

The man was a passenger in a car traveling northbound on Interstate 55, according to Illinois State Police. About 1 a.m. Saturday, the man got into an argument with the car's driver, and the driver pulled over to the side of the road near Illinois Route 53, state police said.

For unknown reasons, the 22-year-old man then walked into traffic and was fatally struck by a passing vehicle.

No citations were being issued in the accident, state police said. The man's identity had not been released as of early Saturday.

Northbound traffic was shut down for hours after the incident but was reopened as of about 4:30 a.m.
