BRIEF: Malibu brush fire 75% contained; Pacific Coast Highway reopens

March 13--A brush fire that forced the temporary closure of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu is now 75% contained and the road has been reopened, officials said.

Early Friday afternoon, the Los Angeles County Fire Department was fighting a blaze of about 2½ acres in heavy brush just west of Tuna Canyon near Las Flores Canyon, according to a statement from the city of Malibu.

Crews were dropping water from helicopters while firefighters battled the blaze on the ground.

Emergency vehicles were in the road as crews fought the blaze, spurring officials to close the highway in both directions from Topanga Canyon Boulevard to the 19400 block of PCH, the city said.
