April 19--Grammy-winning Chicago natives Rhymefest and Lupe Fiasco will headline free performance showcases next month at the second Lake FX Summit and Expo, the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events announced Tuesday.
Rhymefest, an Oscar winner raised on the South Side, is slated to perform May 13 in the Sidney R. Yates Gallery at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St. Lupe Fiasco, who grew up on the West Side, is set to headline the May 14 showcase.
BJ The Chicago Kid, Jamila Woods, The Boy Illinois, Z-Verse and The Era Footwork Crew are also scheduled to perform May 13. Monakr, Celine Neon, Marrow, Psalm One and Pop Waits are set for May 14.
Lake FX is expected to feature more than 100 talks, panels and workshops geared toward artists, creative professionals and entrepreneurs.
Registration to attend the showcases is required. RSVP starting 11 a.m. May 2 at lakefxchicago.us.
