BRIEF: Lovie Smith sells Lake Forest home at a loss

Oct. 16--Former Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith, now coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on Wednesday sold his 13-room brick house in Lake Forest for $1.45 million.

The Bears fired Smith, 57, at the end of 2012 after nine seasons as coach.

Smith took a major loss on the house, which he bought for $1.625 million in late 2004. He first listed it last year for $1.999 million and later took it off the market for about six months. He relisted it in May for $1.695 million.

Built in 2002, the five-bedroom house has five baths, an eat-in kitchen, a two-story family room with a fireplace, a living room with a fireplace, a library, a sweeping staircase, an attached four-car heated garage and a basement with a wet bar, a rec room, a billiards area, a workout room and a second laundry room. The house sits on a 1.38-acre property.
