Nov. 18--As they continue the difficult, costly work of preparing a bid for the 2024 Summer Games, officials from Los Angeles will attend an Olympic workshop in Switzerland this week.
Los Angeles will be the last of five candidate cities -- which include Paris; Rome; Hamburg, Germany; and Budapest, Hungary -- scheduled to visit International Olympic Committee headquarters.
LA 2024 officials will spend part of Thursday in meetings focused on the Paralympics and ethics.
In a considerably longer session on Friday, they will talk with IOC executives about a wide range of topics.
Venue projects and long-term strategy will be discussed, as will issues regarding the media, the effort to reduce carbon footprints and construction of the athletes' village, one of the most expensive components of the 17-day event.
Several members of the bid committee's staff are expected to attend. Gene Sykes, a Goldman Sachs partner, was named chief executive last week.
LA 2024 previously announced that it had raised an initial $30 million in funding. Olympic bid campaigns often cost $50 million or more.
The IOC is scheduled to select a host city in 2017.
