Jan. 17--A Logan Square man was ordered held in lieu of $75,000 bail Saturday after he was charged with sexually abusing the 10-year-old family member of a friend while the child was making tea.
Sergio Barron, 38, appeared Saturday in Cook County bond court on charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a person younger than 18.
The victim was making tea in the kitchen on Thursday when Barron approached from behind, put one hand on the child's back and fondled the child with the other, said Assistant State's Attorney April Gonzales.
The victim's relative walked into the kitchen, saw what was happening and started yelling, Gonzales said. The child immediately told the relative that Barron had done this before. The relative then called Chicago police.
Barron fled on foot and was caught by police a short distance away. He admitted to fondling the victim, Gonzales said.
Barron has worked for five years as a meat cutter at a Logan Square grocery store, his defense attorney said.
