BRIEF: Logan Square man charged with fatally stabbing neighbor

July 01--A Logan Square man has been charged with murder after police said he fatally stabbed a neighbor during a fight earlier this week.

Ruben Quispe-Trujillo, 24, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 26-year-old Adrian Campos, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Police said Quispe-Trujillo was in the backyard of a home in the 1900 block of North Rockwell Street drinking alcohol when he and Campos began arguing about 3 a.m. Monday. During the argument, Quispe-Trujillo allegedly pulled out a large knife and stabbed Campos in the chest.

Campos was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:11 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

Police said Quispe-Trujillo fled the scene after the stabbing but was arrested by responding officers a short time later. Officials said both Campos and Quispe-Trujillo live in the 1900 block of North Rockwell.

Quispe-Trujillo is expected to appear in bond court Wednesday afternoon.
