BRIEF: 'Lion King' makes $1.8 million in a week, breaks house record at Cadillac Palace

Dec. 28--The North American tour of "The Lion King" broke the eight-performance-week house record at the Cadillac Palace Theatre for the week ending Sunday. The Chicago tour stop brought in a total of $1,810,167.50, breaking the previous Cadillac Palace house record set in 2011.

The Broadway production of "The Lion King" also set its 25th house record at The Minskoff Theatre with a total gross of $2,587,925.

"The Lion King," Julie Taymor's staging of Disney's Serengeti classic, plays through Jan. 17 at the Cadillac Palace Theatre, 151 W. Randolph St.
