BRIEF: Light Opera Works announces 2016 season

Nov. 06--Light Opera Works has announced its 2016 season of musical productions.

First up is Lerner and Loewe's "My Fairy Lady" (June 4 -- 12), the battle-of-the-sexes musical adaptation of "Pygmalion." Nick Sandys will star as Henry Higgins.

Next up is "Mame" (Aug. 20 -- 28), the Depression-era musical about an extravagant Auntie and her young nephew that moves in, featuring music and lyrics by Jerry Herman.

"Let Me Entertain You: Jule Styne's Greatest Hits" (Oct. 7 -- 16) follows. The concert will feature songs from "Gypsy," "Funny Girl" and more.

Closing out the season is "Die Fledermaus" (Dec. 26 -- Jan. 1) by Johann Strauss. The operetta about a husband and wife who meet in disguise at a masquerade ball will be performed in English.

"Let Me Entertain You" will take place at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Ave., Evanston. All other performances will take place at Cahn Auditorium, 600 Emerson St., Evanston.
