Oct. 28--Levi's says it plans to reopen its jeans retail store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago this weekend after a fire last week.
On Oct. 21, a passer-by spotted smoke at the store about 6:45 a.m. and called 911.
When firefighters approached the 600 N. Michigan Ave. store, they saw smoke inside and found a display of clothing on fire.
Smoldering T-shirts were pulled from the store and left on the sidewalk after being soaked.
"We've determined that the cause of the fire is electrical in nature," Levi's spokesperson Amber McCasland said Tuesday. The retailer is continuing its investigation and working with the Chicago Fire Department to identify the cause.
"We are planning to reopen the store this weekend," McCasland said.
A neighboring Ann Taylor store had also been closed and cleared of merchandise since at least Monday. As of Wednesday morning, merchandise was back in the women's clothing store.
