BRIEF: Leonard Williams remains a presence at USC in run-up to NFL draft

April 03--After his Pro Day workout at USC last month, Leonard Williams said he wanted to "keep a clean slate" and "maintain a level head" going into the NFL draft.

Williams, a defensive tackle who is projected as a possible top-five pick, is staying close to USC in the run-up to the draft, which begins April 30 in Chicago.

On Thursday, Williams was once again monitoring former teammates during the Trojans' workout at the Coliseum.

Williams' presence motivates defensive linemen, Coach Steve Sarkisian said.

"They want to show out for their buddy when he's here," Sarkisian said. "Leonard might be the first pick in the draft."

Sarkisian welcomes Williams' enthusiasm.

"That guy could be doing anything right now, but he's out here with us and he's in the middle of drills and he's running around and having fun," Sarkisian said. "That's exactly how we know him, and the beauty of it is he hasn't changed."
