BRIEF: Legendary Entertainment President Jon Jashni to step down

Feb. 29--Legendary Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Jon Jashni is stepping down from his position after 10 years with the Burbank production company.

Thomas Tull, Legendary's chairman and chief executive, announced Jashni's departure Monday, just weeks after Chinese conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group said it would buy the company for $3.5 billion.

Legendary -- best known for backing movies such as "The Dark Knight," "Jurassic World" and "Godzilla" -- said Jashni is expected to launch a new entertainment investment fund called Raintree Ventures once he exits.

The company has not yet announced a replacement.

Jashni joined Legendary in 2006, overseeing movie production and development in the early days of the company. He was promoted to president in 2011.

"Jon has helped me build Legendary as a trusted advisor, friend and collaborator and I couldn't be more proud of his contributions over the last decade," said Tull in a statement. "I look forward to working with him in his new venture."
