BRIEF: Lawndale man charged in South Side shooting

Nov. 21--A Lawndale man was charged Friday afternoon in an October shooting that wounded a 30-year-old man in the city's Marquette Park neighborhood.

Ishmael Parks, 24, of the 1200 block of South Karlov Avenue, has been charged with aggravated battery with a weapon in the Oct. 22 shooting of a 30-year-old man in the 6600 block of South Maplewood Avenue, police said.

About 12:20 p.m. that day, the victim was walking on Maplewood when he was shot in his leg. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in good condition, police said.

Parks was later identified as the person who shot the victim. He was scheduled to appear Saturday in bond court.
